Happy, Divine 2009!

Matt and I rang in 2009 underneath the fireworks of the Space Needle at midnight. It was magical...the colorful explosions, an excited crowd, and the Seattle rain. After nearly two weeks of snow and ice, the fact that it was rain, was pretty amazing!

We're off to a busy start of the new year. Our new World Puja show on "The Spiritual Ego" airs this Wed. Jan. 7, and, we filled in for the vacationing Pat Baccili on the Dr. Pat Show this morning.

Both are free to listen to in the archives! Enjoy. We felt they are some of our best shows to date. Hope you get the chance to experience both of them. We felt like we really showed up, and gave from our hearts, and hope that translates on your end. Let us know!

A client emailed us last week with a question about going through times when "less than savory," or unkind, unpleasant thoughts pop up in the mind. What I shared with her I would also like to offer to you, as well, if it's at all helpful in navigating the waters of the mind.

I like to think of these thoughts as waves at they ocean. They come in, they go out. When Matt & I experience an unkind or unhelpful thought, and we all do--we bring our attention to it...so the awareness is there about it, but we don't take it seriously--as truth. We let the thoughts come and go...knowing, and accepting that they come and go. That way, we're not trying to control them and push them away --which only tends to create MORE resistance and discomfort.

They come, they go. No need to give them meaning, a story, or believe the thoughts or feelings running through us moment to moment--especially if they're not adding anything positive or joyful to your day or anyone else's. No need to feel bad when they arise, no need to judge yourself if it still happens (even "after I've done so much work on myself" --that's the most common thing we see in our practice).

Always, unwavering, and unfailing, you are beautiful and loving at your core. Just taking a deep breath in and out and knowing this...can allow this knowing to grow more alive in you in every day. We have infinite expressions of this core throughout our day....some are how we would wish, and some are not. Thank goodness we have the next moment, where we can begin again with even more love than the last moment held.

Wishing you deep, self-loving breaths, and a knowing of your true divine nature.

Blessings always,
Julie

I Know Nothing, That's For Certain

What an exciting time to be alive! I watched the U.S. elections with great interest, as did the world. I felt the collective energy and exhilaration of the "victory speech", and tremendous hope for a "changed" U.S., and a more unified world.

On one's spiritual journey, it's interesting as one "wakes up" from this dream we call reality. Finding the balance between knowing, feeling, and being the "ONENESS", and yet fully participating in life and all its details -- well, that can be a bit of a dance.

As I am comforting clients and friends who are in financial despair right now, I am also watching the tremendous hope they've put in one man (with his host of support, of course) elected to the president's office. I offer a gentle reminder - as this is undoubtedly and undeniably a powerful time of transformation as a people, and a planet. This is bringing much of what we have left to heal to the surface for us to acknowledge and love. These times point out the many ways we can love and accept ourselves and others more deeply.

Anything appearing as form comes and goes. We know that most everything in form has the potential to disappoint us when we hold it too tight or up too high, place expectations on it, or try to fix or change it.

I am aware, and perhaps you have this knowing too, that what I am sure I know in this life is that "I Don't Know." I don't how our seemingly broken systems will get fixed. I don't know how things will turn out on a day-to-day basis for myself or anyone else.

Sure, I have an intuitive sense of life, I know my intentions, but when it really comes down to it...I don't know. Even in just admitting that to ourselves releases some of the "holding energy," as I call it. It relinquishes the control only the ego thinks it has.

And in that letting go, in that realization, in that detachment from the outcome we can only imagine in our minds at a future time, but really don't know - THAT is where the ease is, the grace is, the flow, the peace we crave. We know the peace is always there, and even say sometimes "underneath it all." But, when we give our full attention and awareness to it, it can be the PEACE that permeates everything in our lives.

Peace can be what leads the way.

In love & peace,
Julie

Loving the Ego

Matt and I always share our thoughts with one another… we shine the light of awareness on the ebb and flow of thought, and to be conscious of what we are accepting and loving next.

So, I had a thought today, and I’d love to share it with you.

As we know, the ego is not our enemy, to be pushed away, or resisted. It’s helpful in getting certain tasks done in life, and it always thinks it is an essential part of our lives by being on the look out for potential “problems” and warning of dangers. However, today, it occurred to me that the ego is more like an old friend, but one we aren’t going to necessarily be hanging around with anymore.

It’s the friend that still lives on the block and in the neighborhood, but you just don’t go over to its house anymore to play. It’s a friend that’s still in your address book, but you no longer feel the pull to call or email.

Loving the spaciousness in that,
Julie
